Sustainable cocoa, happiness every step of the way

For us, Leonidas chocolate is above all a chain of shared happiness. A happiness that begins where cocoa is carefully grown, continues through the craftsmanship of our chocolatiers, and comes to life in every moment of enjoyment.

That is why, since 1 October 2021, we have chosen to make all our chocolates using 100% sustainably certified cocoa. A natural decision for a company that has stood for quality, accessible and meaningful chocolate since 1913.

We believe that the pleasure of chocolate is only complete when it also respects the people who make it possible and the nature that provides it. This commitment helps improve the living and working conditions of 2,450 cocoa farmers and their families by supporting a fairer and more stable income.

And because happiness should remain accessible to everyone, we have chosen to absorb the additional costs of this commitment without increasing our prices. So that today, just as in the past, we can continue to offer chocolate that brings joy to everyone.

    Three labels, one shared commitment

For us, a sustainable commitment means working with strong and trusted partners.

The Rainforest Alliance and Cacao Horizons programmes provide concrete guarantees for responsible farming practices and respect for local communities.

Their work focuses on sustainably improving the livelihoods of cocoa farmers by increasing crop quality and productivity while protecting children and preserving ecosystems. Combating deforestation is an integral part of this commitment.

This vision is further reinforced through the Beyond Chocolate charter, a Belgian initiative bringing together chocolatiers, NGOs and public authorities. A collective commitment to fighting deforestation and promoting a living income throughout the cocoa supply chain.

    Secretariat

We are delighted to welcome Leonidas, one of the leading names in the Belgian chocolate industry, which has committed to our ambitious sustainability goals. This marks an important milestone for Belgian chocolate. Leonidas chocolates are now certified by Rainforest Alliance and Cacao Horizons, representing a significant commitment to sustainability.

    Acting for a better world

Choosing sustainable cocoa means placing people and the environment at the heart of every decision. It is a long-term vision that goes beyond the product itself and extends to everything we do.

This commitment is also reflected in our everyday choices: FSC-certified cardboard packaging that is fully recyclable, and wherever possible, we favour short supply chains for our ingredients. Every detail matters when it comes to reducing our environmental impact.

And the future is already taking shape. We are developing new packaging and shopping bag solutions that are even more respectful of the planet. Because for us, progress is a journey, never a destination.

Sustainable chocolate... at the same price

For us, committing to sustainable cocoa should never be a luxury. That is why we have chosen to absorb the additional costs ourselves, without increasing our prices in store.

Every chocolate continues to embody the quality of Belgian chocolate, remaining true to our values of generosity and accessibility. Simple, genuine moments of pleasure to be shared, without spending an extra euro.

Our quality standards have never been higher: chocolate made with 100% pure cocoa butter, free from palm oil and crafted with carefully selected ingredients. A sustainable commitment that also inspires the creativity of our Master Chocolatiers.
